The Antaira Technologies STS-1915SI is an RS-232 to RS-422/485 serial converter. Designed to operate as either a client or server, the STS-1915SI provides RS-422/485 serial communication through a standard RS-232 port. The STS-1915SI also provides surge and isolation protection. Surge protection is rated up to 500 watts, and isolation protection up to 1500Vrms
The STS-1915SI is equipped with a standard DB9 female connector and a serial terminal block for flexible wiring. The serial converter can be powered either by the RS-232 line voltage or through a USB-to-barrel 5VDC input jack.
The STS-1915SI converts unbalanced RS-232 full-duplex signals into balanced RS-422/485 full- or half-duplex signals. The RS-485 serial connection can be configured for either two- or four-wire operation. The serial converter is compatible with both new and legacy RS-422 and RS-485 devices. The STS-1915SI is easy to install and does not require the user to power-cycle the computer, preventing downtime.
